Our Philosophy

Yonnie’s House of Love was established as a result of the founder losing her daughter, Moyonna Cartia Tillman to domestic violence. We work from an inclusive, empowering, human rights perspective grounded in the principles of social justice.

All About Me

We believe in:

• Fostering self-respect and independence in persons experiencing domestic violence.

• Educating individuals, families, and community partners.

• Providing a safe house to all individuals regardless of situation, background, or behavior.

• Providing information resources to the community.

• Advocating as a solid, strong voice for victims/survivors of domestic violence who are affected.

We believe in:

• Supporting and providing information to those seeking help.

• Providing comprehensive, courteous, and timely service and support.

• Supporting individuals in resolving problems, feeling valued and worthy of dignity and respect, teaching essential practices, and offering additional resources.

We believe that:

• The community is responsible for working together to improve the safety and future of women, children, and others affected by domestic violence.

• We have a responsibility to challenge misconceptions and to educate the community, specifically those in positions of providing help and support.

• Men and women are essential in eradicating domestic violence and as role models for non-abusive behaviors.
